This question echoes through classrooms, coffee shops, and skeptical conversations everywhere:
“Why should I trust the Bible? Wasn’t it just written by men?”
Let’s not dodge this — let’s confront it head-on with facts and faith rooted in God’s Word (NKJV only).
Yes, Men Wrote It — But They Wrote What God Told Them To
The Bible is not a book of human invention. It’s a divine revelation written through human hands.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…”
— 2 Timothy 3:16, NKJV
The Greek word for “inspiration” literally means “God-breathed.” The Bible is not merely man’s thoughts about God — it is God’s thoughts given to man.
“…holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
— 2 Peter 1:21, NKJV
These men were not authors in the modern sense — they were instruments God used to record His eternal truth.
It’s God’s voice. Man’s pen.
God Has Always Used People to Communicate His Word
Throughout Scripture, God chooses people — not angels — to deliver His message:
- Moses received the Law (Exodus 24:4)
- David wrote the Psalms (2 Samuel 23:2)
- The prophets wrote warnings and promises (Jeremiah 30:2)
- Paul wrote epistles to the early Church (Galatians 1:11–12)
If the Bible were written without people, we wouldn’t be able to understand it or relate to it. God, in His mercy, chose human language, human experience, and human hands to make Himself known.

The Bible Was Written by 40+ Authors Over 1,500 Years — Yet It’s Perfectly Unified
Try to get five people to agree on anything — and now consider that the Bible was written by over 40 people, from different walks of life (kings, fishermen, shepherds, doctors, prophets), over 15 centuries, across 3 continents — and yet it tells one cohesive story: God’s redemption plan through Jesus Christ.
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”
— Isaiah 40:8, NKJV
Coincidence? Not a chance.
This is divine authorship in motion — only God could orchestrate such harmony.
Jesus Himself Confirmed the Authority of the Scriptures
Jesus never questioned the authenticity or authority of the Old Testament. In fact, He quoted it constantly, fulfilled it perfectly, and declared its eternal truth.
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
— Luke 4:4, NKJV
“The Scripture cannot be broken.”
— John 10:35, NKJV
If Jesus — the Son of God — affirmed the Scriptures, then dismissing them as merely human is to reject His own authority.
Historical and Archaeological Evidence Support the Bible’s Reliability
This isn’t blind faith. The Bible is the most historically documented text of the ancient world.
- 25,000+ archaeological digs confirm the Bible’s historical accuracy
- 5,800+ Greek manuscripts of the New Testament exist — more than any other ancient document
- No major archaeological discovery has ever disproven the Bible
It’s not just a “spiritual book.” It’s a proven historical record.
The Bible’s Prophecies Were Fulfilled with Exact Precision
Only God can predict the future with 100% accuracy.
The Bible contains over 300 prophecies about Jesus alone, written centuries before He was born — all fulfilled in detail.
“Declaring the end from the beginning… saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.’”
— Isaiah 46:10, NKJV
No human being could ever script that.
The Real Question: Do You Want It to Be True?
Often when people ask, “Wasn’t the Bible written by men?”, what they really mean is,
“I don’t want it to have authority over me.”
Because if it is from God, then it has claims on our lives. And that’s the real issue — not authorship, but authority.
“The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword…”
— Hebrews 4:12, NKJV
Final Thought
Yes, men physically wrote the Bible. But they wrote as they were led by the Spirit of the living God.
To call it “just a human book” is to ignore the overwhelming evidence — historical, prophetic, and supernatural — that this Book is not from man to God, but from God to man.
“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.”
— Psalm 119:89, NKJV
